Five Common Mistakes Job Seekers Make
Little or No Research - Internationally, it is expected that you should do a bit of research about the organisation you want to join. One of the major problems Indian students particularly face is lack of understanding about the organisation which is interpreted as a lack of serious interest about the job.
Generic Cover Letter - A common mistake most Indian students make is not customising the cover letter and application. This projects an impression that applications are sent off generically or sent in mass.
Typos - Typographical or spelling errors are common among most Indian students. Mistakes in resume or cover letter are considered unprofessional.
Lack of Demonstration - Failure to demonstrate clearly the skills and knowledge areas by Indian students is a serious issue in the selection process.
Dog's Breakfast - Lack of presentation skills like unclear structure or too much unnecessary information makes it unimpressive.
These suggestions are not meant for Australia but anywhere in the globe. Next time when you apply for a job please keep these points in mind; you may possibly land up with the dream job.

RAJIV GANDHI CENTRE FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY (RGCB) OFFERS SHORT TERM TRAINING PROGRAMS (BIOTECHNOLOGY AND BIOINFORMATICS) FOR POST GRADUATE STUDENTS, SUMMER TRAINEES, ETC
The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is an institute for advanced research, development and training in biotechnology.
As part of its commitment to human resource development, RGCB permits students from various academic institutions at the MSc, B.Tech, M.Phil and M.Tech level to carry out dissertation and project work in disciplines involving biotechnology and bioinformatics. During the past two years, RGCB has trained over 300 post-graduate students from various parts of the country. While this short-term/summer training satisfies a requirement for completing the Masters program for a large number of candidates, our intentions are also to provide these candidates with an exposure to an international quality biotechnology research environment.
RGCB does not offer this facility to BSc. or other undergraduate programs. Projects and dissertations may be for one month, 2 or 3 months and between 4 and 6 months. A service fee is charged from trainees to cover the costs of the training such as reagents, chemicals, enzymes, tissue culture requirements, molecular biology requirements, instrumentation, etc. The service fee structure for these programs is given below:
Duration of Dissertation/Project | Fee (Rs.) |
One month | 10,000 |
Two or three months | 20,000 |
Four to six months | 30,000 |
