Faculty Positions open in all Disciplines of Interest to IISc

The Institute welcomes applications from Indian nationals who are exceptionally bright and motivated with an established record of independent, high quality research and commitment to teaching for positions of Assistant Professors and above in all disciplines of interest to the Institute in Science and Engineering.

For the positions of Assistant Professors, the prospective candidates must have
a Ph.D in the relevant area, with
three years of post-doctoral research experience (relaxable in exceptional cases), and
be preferably below 35 years of age.

The salary for the positions of Assistant Professors will be in the grade of Rs.12,000-420-18,300 per month plus allowances.

For higher positions, the prospective candidates, in addition to having a Ph.D in the relevant area, are expected to have made outstanding contributions in the chosen area of research and also guided doctoral students.

The salary for the positions of Associate Professors will be in the grade of Rs.16,400-450-20,000 while that for the positions of Professors will be in the grade of Rs.18,400-500-22,400 per month plus allowances.

The Institute also provides a start-up research grant of a few lakhs of rupees to the new faculty. In addition, the Institute provides certain perks to all the faculty, like Contingency grant of Rs.4000/- perr annum for books, stationery, etc., a sum of Rs. 1.00 lakh for attending International Conferences during a sliding period of three years, reimbursement of 75% of annual membership fee paid to any one international professional body, full funding for attending one national Conference per year, loan for purchase of computers etc. The faculty and their families are also covered by an attractive Contributory Health services Scheme. Modest on-campus accommodation is also provided to the new faculty.

Junior Research Fellowship(JRF) in CCMB Hyderabad

The following Information about Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) should be treated as a mere information about the JRF being offered in CCMB which issues an advertisement twice every year in the Employment News in the months of March-April & November-December for recruitment of Junior Research Fellows who fulfil the criteria as given below, for pursuing research in modern bilogy leading to a Ph.D. degree.
Criteria: Should have qualified in the CSIR-UGC NET examination for Junior Research Fellowship and the Fellowship Certificate should be valid at the time of joining this centre in case selected. ( candidates who have qualified only for Lectureship need not apply).
Should have an M.Sc. degree in any area of biological sciences and a consistent first class acdademic record with 60% or more marks both at B.Sc and M.Sc.
Candidates who have written final year examination of M.Sc and awaiting results are also eligible to apply which is only provisional and they should fulfil the criteria as mentioned in the preceding paragraph in case of selection and at the time of joining this centre.
Upper age limit is 28 years which is relaxabe by 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Handicapped candidates.
Candidates who have qualilfied in the NET exam at the time of applying will have to attend an interview at CCMB.Only those who have quealified in the CSIR-NET exam only need apply.
Candidates have to submit their applications as per the prescribed format along with attested copies of certificates. Applications received will be screened and candidates who strictly fulfill the above criteria will be called for written test/interview at CCMB. Travelling Allowance is not payable by CCMB for attending interview.
Stipend and Tenure: The JRFship carries a stipend of Rs 10,000/- per month + 15% House Rent Allowance
The award of JRFship is for two years. Subsequently the candidate would be eligible for Senior Research Fellowship of 3 year duration.

Summer Internship in JNCASR

Science:Students presently studying in I, II and III year B.Sc., B.V.Sc., M.B.B.S., B.Pharma, and I and II Year of M.Sc. Course., Integrated M.Sc any year.

Engineering: II and III year of B.E. and B.Tech.

Students selected under this programme are placed with scientists at the Centre or elsewhere in India, for two months during April-July 2008 with a stipend of Rs.5,000/- per month and travel support as per Government of India norms.

The total number of fellowships offered will be around 120.
About 15 students will be chosen as
Rajiv Gandhi Science Talent Research Fellows
based on the completed project reports
