Scientist/Senior Scientist in Kemin AgriFoods Asia, Singapore

Pre-requisites:

The candidate must have a PhD in enzymology/biochemistry with at least three to five years experience in research institutes or in product formulations and product development. The candidate must be fluent in English and has the ability to lead and motivate a team of technical staff under his supervision. He should be able to lead and conduct independent research work. He must possess initiative and be able to work independently. He should also be able to interact well with others and be honest and value hard work.
Function Tasks and Responsibilities

• Coordinate, plan and conduct applied and exploratory research projects to ensure timely and successful completion

• Conduct animal trials for product development and validation• Identify long term potential exploratory research projects and apply to governmental granting agencies for external funding as principal investigator

• Patent and literature search to update new development of products in the area of enzymes• Lead and coordinate research project team on enzyme development

• Communicate, advise and interact with marketing/technical services department to prioritize and in the conduct of research projects, and to provide scientific support in assisting increasing sales

• Involved in the transfer of new product from development to production phase via pilot-plant study

• Carry out visits to market where appropriate to improve interaction with customers

• Evaluate and validate all methodologies of the laboratory against established and accepted protocols

• Publish R & D findings in international journals to gain acceptance and increase company profile

• Motivate and help staff set goals. Responsible for career paths and upgrading of staff

• Plan and budget for R & D for biochemistry and enzymology section

• Contribute to 1 patent a year through research activities

• Responsible for the development of enzyme products of the company and improve existing core products to ensure sales growth of 30%

• Develop product(s) that can be launched by the company to generate 15% new sales within the first two years

Research Associate (Biochemistry) in Kemin AgriFoods Asia, Singapore

Pre-requisites:
- Fresh candidates may apply, but prior industrial research experience will be an added advantage (preferably in food related industry)
- Knowledge of biochemistry and biology is essential
- Able to read and analyze scientific articles and patents
- Apply statistics to analyze experimental results
- Writing of scientific reports and research papers
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Some level of creativity in product formulation and trouble-shooting
- Familiar with basic laboratory management skills and practice
Experiences
- Hands-on experience in HPLC and colorimetry assays is essential
- Experience in molecular biology, protein purification and cell culture will be preferred
- 3 years of relevant experience
Responsibilities
- Develop new products, processes and analytical methodologies in the area of feed enzymes and other bioactive compounds.
- Analyze and interpret research data and present results as research papers, scientific reports and posters.
- Support the IPRA team in providing data and documentation for product registration.
- Support the QA team in evaluation of raw materials and trouble-shooting product complaints.
