Applications are invited for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme in IIT, GUWAHATI starting in January 2008.

Eligibility for Regular PhD Candidate For PhD: Science a) Masters degree in the relevant discipline with a first class or a minimum of 60% marks or a C.P.I. of 6.5 or equivalent and a valid GATE score or NET qualification.

For PhD: Engineering General qualifications:

a) MTech degree or equivalent in an appropriate area with minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks, OR

b) BTech degree or equivalent in an appropriate area with a CPI of at least 8.00 or 75% marks and a valid GATE score, OR

c) BTech degree from an IIT in an appropriate area with a CPI of at least 8.0 with or without a GATE score.

Specific requirements in addition to above for some departments/centres:

d) For PhD in Biotechnology, (i) MTech in Biotechnology/ Biochemical Engg./Chemical Engg. or related disciplines or MPharm with minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks OR (ii) BTech in Biotechnology/ Biochemical Engg./Chemical Engg. or related disciplines or BPharm, with minimum 8.00 CPI or 75% marks and with a valid GATE score (iii) MSc in Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/ Biochemistry/Microbiology/Life Sciences/ Agricultural Sciences/Chemistry/ related disciplines with minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks and a valid qualification of GATE/NET/equivalent test conducted by ICAR/ICMR.

e) For PhD in Nanotechnology, Eligibility: i)MTech/BTech in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical engineering, Biotechnology, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Instrumentation, Aerospace Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering and allied areas or (ii) M Sc in Physics, Chemistry,Mathematics, Medical Sciences and Instrumentation with at least 55% marks or equivalent with valid NET
