FINAL YAER BIOTECHNOLOGY PROJECT IN RGCB

RAJIV GANDHI CENTRE FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY (RGCB) OFFERS SHORT TERM TRAINING PROGRAMS (BIOTECHNOLOGY AND BIOINFORMATICS) FOR POST GRADUATE STUDENTS, SUMMER TRAINEES, ETC

The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is an institute for advanced research, development and training in biotechnology.

As part of its commitment to human resource development, RGCB permits students from various academic institutions at the MSc, B.Tech, M.Phil and M.Tech level to carry out dissertation and project work in disciplines involving biotechnology and bioinformatics. During the past two years, RGCB has trained over 300 post-graduate students from various parts of the country. While this short-term/summer training satisfies a requirement for completing the Masters program for a large number of candidates, our intentions are also to provide these candidates with an exposure to an international quality biotechnology research environment.

RGCB does not offer this facility to BSc. or other undergraduate programs. Projects and dissertations may be for one month, 2 or 3 months and between 4 and 6 months. A service fee is charged from trainees to cover the costs of the training such as reagents, chemicals, enzymes, tissue culture requirements, molecular biology requirements, instrumentation, etc. The service fee structure for these programs is given below:

Duration of Dissertation/Project

Fee (Rs.)

One month

10,000

Two or three months

20,000

Four to six months

30,000

Six months to one year

50,000

Interested applicants may either contact the scientists directly and secure their consent or apply directly to the office of the Director, RGCB, who will allot students to laboratories based on vacancies or acceptance by concerned scientists. Applications can be submitted throughout the year but actual training will be subject to the number of vacancies available with each scientist. Allotment to individual scientists will therefore depend on their consent and spaces available with them. For further details, please contact the Public Relations Officer at the Office of the Director (info@rgcb.res.in or director@rgcb.res.in or at phone number +91 471 2347973).

Application forms can be downloaded from http://www.rgcb.res.in/admission.html. Completed applications endorsed by the Head of Department and Head of Institution should then be submitted to the Director, Rajiv Gandhi Centre For Biotechnology, Poojapura, Thycaud P.O, Thiruvananthapuram 695014. Applications must be submitted at least two months before the dates requested for training. Service fees may either be remitted as a crossed Demand draft payable to the Director, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram 695014 or remitted in cash at the administrative office. The Director will take the final decision on the training and placement. Applications can be rejected if the institute feels they are found unacceptable without assigning any reasons.

Application forms can be downloaded from http://www.rgcb.res.in/admission.html
