Process Technician II, Large Scale Fermentation USA, California, Palo Alto

This is your chance to play an integral role in supporting the development, scale-up, and transfer of production processes for our new biotechnology products utilizing state-of-the-art facilities which range in scale from 14L to 3,000L capacities. The optimal candidate will have a strong background with process equipment, utilities, hazardous materials, and process safety procedures, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, team oriented environment. This position will have the initial focus of learning to run large-scale fermentations in our pilot plant. This includes batching and sterilizing reactors, monitoring biological processes, and cleaning and maintaining equipment. The ability to work swing shift and to have flexible hours is a requirement. As a member of the operations group, you will also have the opportunity to learn about a variety of recovery, formulation, and analytical processes. You will be participating in continuous improvement efforts to increase quality and service levels, improve process capabilities and capacities, and achieve higher efficiency and reliability.

You are equiped with the following skills and attributes:
  • Minimum education of high school degree (AA degree in Science/Engineering a plus)
  • 1-3 years of relevant laboratory experience highly regarded
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work flexible shifts
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Enjoy working in a team environment to solve problems
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lb.
  • Ability to wear a respirator
  • Computer literacy
